INTRODUCTION

PSGL is a public-domain library that uses the feedback mechanism in the IRIS GL
library to generate Adobe Postscript (tm) output suitable for printout or
inclusion in a document.

This version of PSGL (2.1) is the second to incorporate most of the
modifications that have appeared over the years to the original library by
Seth Teller. In addition, some features (such a recursive subdivision) have
been extended to provide enhanced output or new hardware support. The library
now restricts public names to a common 'psgl_' prefix to avoid linkage
problems.

The release notes in the software distribution detail the 2.1 release. To
install PSGL 2.1, use the inst(1m) or swmgr command with the '-f' option and
select the appropriate subsystems. The software installation and compiled
software were generated for IRIX 5.2 and later.

LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR PSGL

This software is public domain. What this means is that you can make as many
copies as you wish, change things, sell copies, and so on without any legal
repercussions from The Authors. Since the software has been placed in the
public domain, however, don't expect to be able to patent, copyright, or
otherwise litigate the software: you can't.

The Authors do ask that you refrain from releasing modified versions of the
software for general consumption. Changes, bug reports, and fixes should
instead be forwarded to Mike Sweet (mike@easysw.com) for incorporation with
everything else for an 'official' release. This should hopefully give
everyone a more consistent, stable product.

NO WARRANTY

BECAUSE PSGL IS PUBLIC DOMAIN, THE AUTHORS PROVIDE ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY,
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE STATE LAW. EXCEPT WHEN OTHERWISE
STATED IN WRITING, THE AUTHORS PROVIDE PSGL "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY
KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED
WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE
RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF PSGL IS WITH YOU. SHOULD PSGL PROVE
DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR
CORRECTION.

IN NO EVENT UNLESS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW WILL THE AUTHORS BE LIABLE TO YOU
FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS, LOST MONIES, OR OTHER SPECIAL,
INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE
(INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA OR DATA BEING RENDERED INACCURATE OR
LOSSES SUSTAINED BY THIRD PARTIES OR A FAILURE OF THE SOFTWARE TO OPERATE WITH
ANY OTHER PROGRAMS) PSGL, EVEN IF YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF
SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY OTHER PARTY.
